Transforming software development with generative AI

Organizations increasingly rely on software to differentiate, transform, and become leaders in their industries. But moving quickly on this journey of software-driven transformation is often challenging for most of them. Not only is there a persistent shortage of software developers worldwide,1 but developers do not get enough “focus time”2 to work on important business problems.

Even during the limited time developers have available for writing code, they encounter various hurdles. In addition to spending a significant portion of their time manually writing code that is straightforward and undifferentiating (unit tests, string manipulation, processing lists, and uploading files, for example), they also spend a lot of time exploring, learning, and keeping up with a complex and ever-changing tool and technology landscape (new programming languages, SDKs, APIs, frameworks, toolkits, and so on) in order to use the latest technologies and services to build innovative solutions. This leaves even less time available to develop new creative, differentiated, or business-critical capabilities.
